Arcopedico was created in 1966 by Professor Eng Elio Parodi, an Italian scientist. Having learned of the importance of the arch to foot biomechanics at a Swedish Orthopedic convention, Professor Parodi created an insole system with dual longitudinal arch supports. He then developed and patented an upper to match his new insole featuring a new woven nylon yarn formulation, which gave his shoes their distinctive appearance and eliminated friction points for the wearer. Although spurned by the industry for its unique and different appearance, the brand found acceptance and success by marketing directly to the public. The now iconic shoe has achieved world-wide recognition for comfort and proper support.
