Founded 1998 (and launched commercially around 2001)​ in La Rioja in the traditions of Spanish artisan shoemaking, El Naturalista builds every pair from vegetable-tanned leather and natural rubber — comfort with a conscience, shaped like nothing else on the wall.

El Naturalista formed in a region where artisan cobblers have worked for centuries. Every design starts with a material or a place in the natural world — then gets built by hand in the brand's own workshops in Spain and Morocco. The result is a shoe that looks unlike anything else in the store: rounded, organic silhouettes, earthy dyes, and details that feel found rather than manufactured.
