Have you ever had an amazing pair of shoes but there was just a little something missing? We think insoles might be just what you are looking for. A solid set of insoles can make a huge difference to your foot health and the comfort of your shoes! If you buy the right pair you are able to get rid of foot and lower body pain, provide protection against injury, and even help your performance in sports and other activities. However, insoles eventually become old and worn out, and that is when they are no longer going to do you any good. So, how do you know when to replace your insoles?
With normal use, a pair of high-quality, store-bought insoles should last between six and nine months. If you are putting more than the average wear and tear on your shoes, then they should last three to six months before they need to be replaced. There are many factors that will shorten or lengthen how long insoles will last you. We’ve placed our top three below! Insole Quality A good-quality, well-made insole will last longer than a cheap one. If you want your insoles to be effective and last for a good amount of time, you need to view them as an investment and be willing to spend a bit more for a better pair. When looking for insoles you want to look for ones that have a stable sturdy base with contoured footbed, this allow for the foot to be properly aligned. Insole Quality An insole with a foam, gel or fabric upper, tends to last longer than those with wool, cotton or terry fabric material. Insoles that are made with foam and gel breakdown quicker and do not give the foot support that it needs to align the body for all day comfort. Insoles made with these materials do add cushion and comfort to shoes, but should be used more for taking up space or for dress shoes to only be worn for a few hours. Style and Material If you use your insoles all day, every day, they will wear out more quickly than if you were to wear them just a couple times a week. In addition, certain activities are harder on insoles than others. If you are constantly participating in high-impact sports, such as football or running, keep in mind that your insoles will need to be replaced more often due to the extra impact on the insole.
